McCarney says it's a rivalry that's unique in college football. "There's no other rivalry like it," he said. "The fans are so passionate, and the atmosphere is electric."

McCarney says he understands why the fans are so passionate about this game. "It's a rivalry that's been going on for over a century," says McCarney, who is now a radio analyst for Iowa State football games, he said. "There's a lot of history there, and both fan bases have a lot of pride."

McCarney predicts a close game

McCarney says he expects a close game when Iowa State and Iowa meet on Saturday. Both teams are coming off of wins, and both teams have a lot of talent.

"I think it's going to be a great game," McCarney said. "Both teams are going to play hard, and the fans are going to be in for a treat."
